Mike Milligan and The Altar Boyz describe their unique sound as "Texas Blues
with Louisiana Attitude". This is what happened when they combined their ethnic
mixture of original sounds. Front man / Lead singer, Mike Milligan. former front
man for "DELTA ROUX", brings to the group powerful vocals, often compared to
Junior Medlow, and a unique harp style that is definitely his own. A veteran
musician who has displayed his talents all over Texas, Colorado, New Mexico,
Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Washington State, Oregon, California, Iowa, Minnesota,
Missouri, South Dakota and Western Europe. "Less is more" Lead guitarist Scott
Unzicker, although the baby of the Boyz, holds his own with these veteran
musicians. The upside down and backwards bass player Leland Parks is half of the
"Solid as a rock" rhythm section that powers this unit. On drums Dr. Dave Novak
completes the rhythm section, and is the hammer that drives the large solid,
steady and true sound of the band. Since coming together as a performing unit in
2005, Mike Milligan and The Altar Boyz have refined their sound while playing
venues in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, Victoria,
San Angelo, Alpine, their hometown of Austin and all points in between. All the
while building a strong fan base. Along the way opening for such greats as
Johnny Winter and Jerry LaCroix. Their first CD "Going Up" was released in the
spring of 2007. It consists of 11 original songs written and produced by Mike
Milligan.
"Milligan really is a superb vocalist, able to deliver a lyric with
meaning and passion" says Andy Snipper of Music Matters(U.K.) |
